Salman Khan to be part of 4D film?

Mumbai, Feb 8 (IBNS) Director V Ganesh Kumar, who is busy preparing for India's first mainline Bollywood 4D film, would like actors Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the lead roles in the film.

Kumar said: "This is a historical film based on true incidents, wars and conflicts as recorded in history books that will appeal to kids as well as adults. It has a great educational value for kids as well and has a huge audience both in India and abroad - in the Gulf and other Middle East countries."

He said: "My first choice for the lead roles is Salman and Hrithik and I have made my preferences clear to my producer. It is up to the producer to take a call depending on budgets and schedules. The film will also be released in a normal cinema-scope version and a 3D version, as there are not many 4D equipped screens in the country."

The film is produced by a Pune-based production house Ganesh Saraswati Films.

Dismissing reports that the film which has a projected budget of Rs 120 crore is a low-budget film, Kumar said, "I am not at liberty to discuss the budget, you have to speak to the producer. But we have a decent budget. Who says Rs 120 crore for the making of a film is a low-budget? Many production houses inflate their budgets - everyone knows that even the big banners make their films at almost half the budgets they claim or project. It depends on the star cast which is not yet finalized."

He said: "We are still casting and talking to various actors. This film has a huge cast and we will have 2-3 well-known male actors preferably in a super-star category as part of this project. It depends on dates and availability. We have a projected release time frame of April 2015 or November 2015 for the film and have to juggle shooting schedules accordingly. The film is expected to go on floors in April or May 2014."

The film "The Last Emperor" has a projected making budget of Rs 120 crore and will be shot pre-dominantly in Maharashtra, but will also have schedules in Andhra Pradesh and other parts of South India.

The film also has a mention of the Nizam of Hyderabad and a huge set is being planned on the outskirts of Hyderabad to replicate and old 17th century fort.

Afghanistan-born, Bhopal-educated model and actress Arshi Khan has been finalized for the project though Kumar is reluctant to give further details.

"We will officially announce the entire star cast at one go and not in bits and pieces," Kumar said.

Arshi Khan said: "It's a pleasure to be part of this project. The film covers a historical era and will portray the historical chronology of events in the late 16 and early 17th century in Maharashtra and south India."

She said: "Maharashtra was ruled by the Mughals till the early 17th century after which the Marathas were the predominant power in the region. The film will portray the rule of the Nizamshahi of Ahmadnagar, Adilshah of Bijapur and the Qutubshah of Golkonda as well as the emergence of the Maratha kingdom in the mid-17th century as seen by British soldier. It also covers the death of the last Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1707 after an exhausting 27 years of futile war against the emerging Maratha power."

People who took sides in SRK-Salman fight are in a fix: Sohail Khan

Back in 2008, they were involved in possibly the most-talked-about fight in Bollywood. Of late, however, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s relationship is seemingly starting to thaw.

Last month, the two ‘warring’ superstars hugged for the second time at an awards show (in 2013, too, they had

embraced each other at an Iftar party) besides indulging in a warm conversation.

Interestingly though, even as SRK and Salman move forward, the latter’s younger brother, Sohail reveals that this patch-up has left many people in a quandary.

"Whoever tried to choose a particular ‘side’ or ‘camp’ at that time (when the two fought), I don’t know where they are today. Unko dar lagta hai ki abhi woh kya kare…woh yahan, wahan bhaagte hai (they are afraid about what they should do now…they are in a fix),” says Sohail.

Calling the infamous incident "just an argument between two friends", the actor-director adds that "now, whenever and wherever they bump into each other, they are respectful towards one another."

He further adds, "Touch wood, they have started exchanging pleasantries. And anyway, why would anybody want to encourage the negativity? In fact, the rest of us fight a lot more but it never gets noticed."

According to Sohail, the spat is an "old story" now. "But even today, whenever something happens between other people, it’s said that a fight has happened between two stars the way Shah Rukh and Salman fought (sic). They are such big stars that they have to be extremely careful at each and every step," says the 43-year-old adding that his wife, Seema Khan and SRK’s wife, Gauri have been friends for years.

"So I have a very decent and polite relationship with Shah Rukh bhai. And that should always be the case," says Sohail.

Haryana village adopts Jai-Ho support model

An initiative to stop the slide in sex ratio has transformed Bibipur in Haryana into a model village. But far from gloating over the laurels, the village on Thursday announced that it would embark on a community endeavour that would set off a “chain reaction” and attract more helping hands to work for welfare of mankind.

The initiative, created on the 1 to 3 model made famous by the recent Salman Khan starrer Jai-Ho, calls for each villager to help three persons in some ways and each of those three should help two more, setting off the chain reaction where everyone in the village would have both received and rendered help to each other.

Sunil Jaglan, the 32-year-old village Sarpanch, told Deccan Herald that the village had held a Gram Sabha in which it was unanimously voted to adopt the 1 to 3 model of supporting each other.

“In some time, the number of helping hands in the village will be abundant because of the chain reaction. Every gesture of help will encourage brotherhood and harmony in the village,” Jaglan said.

Each man and woman who help more people will be felicitated and honoured periodically.

At least 70 persons who had received help from nearly a dozen persons in the village at some point in time were identified and called for Thursday’s meeting. “To begin with, we asked these 70 men and women to help at least three persons to start off the chain. This small initiative will generate hundreds of helping hands at the end of the exercise,” he said.

Check out the sizzling Chemistry of Sonam Kapoor & Salman Khan: She may act in Sooraj Barjatya's Next

2014 has begun on a good note for Sonam Kapoor. It began with Raees with Shah Rukh Khan. And now she has been confirmed for Sooraj Barjatya’s film Bade Bhaiiya with Salman Khan. This, along with last year’s critical acclaim for Raanjhaana and  Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has raised the actresses’ stock overnight.

Sooraj has been on the lookout for a traditional Indian face to cast opposite Salman. But he was clear he didn’t want  a fresh face. The story is about two brothers, and Salman plays both. Sooraj had almost finalised Deepika for the part but ultimately has selected Sonam. He felt that the Kapoor girl was more suited to the role, and had more desi appeal, in her personal as well as professional life.

The director is looking for innocence and he feels that Sonam has typical Indian features. He also believes that she’s one of those actresses who can portray any character with her mobile face. When Sooraj saw Raanjhaana he was fascinated by her performance and decided she was perfect for the role. Salman approves of this choice as as he has known Sonam since childhood, as her father Anil Kapoor is a friend.

But Sonam and her family have been instructed to maintain strict silence on the film by Sooraj. A source says, “There will be a proper announcement at the right time. Till then Sonam can’t talk about it all. Even her family is keeping mum on this restigious project.”
